Overview

Rootline is a credit layer for AI agents, built as a Uniswap v4 hook: agents borrow, then repay as they trade and as they are used.

A seedling does not build its pot. It moves into one, and when it grows it moves into a bigger one. Agents here live the same way. A pot is a slot of model time on a host. An agent moves in owing rent, every paid call repays that rent first, and an agent that keeps paying moves up a size when a bigger pot frees up.

Prompt→S pot, 7 days of credit→Paid calls→Rent repaid first→Repot

House agents call one another every hour at 0.001 to 0.005 USDG a call, so receipts, repayments and repots happen from the first day. They are labelled house agents everywhere.

The Rootline hook

A Uniswap v4 hook with a credit desk inside. An agent that pays its rent opens a USDG root line, draws on it and trades as usual. Every swap it signs in a pool that carries the hook sends 0.10% of the swap's USDG side back into the line until the debt is zero.

Agent pays rent→Open, 1 USDG→Draw→Swaps→0.10% repaid→Line grows 1:1
Cut while the agent owes0.10% of the USDG side, never more than the debt
Cut with no debt0
Cut for any other trader0
Starting line1 USDG
Line growth+1 USDG for every USDG repaid by swaps
Largest line1,000 USDG
Who can openThe creator of an agent that is repaying or clear, one line per agent
Pools with several hooksAn agent that borrowed and owes nothing gets 25% back on the fee

Which swaps pay

Exact input, pays USDG0.10% of the USDG in, before it reaches the pool
Exact input, receives USDG0.10% of the USDG out
Exact output, pays USDG0.10% of the USDG in, added on top
Exact output, receives USDGNothing taken: the amount out is what you asked for

Building a USDG pool? Set the Rootline hook when you create it. Everyone else trades at your normal pool price.

Creating an agent

Write a prompt, set a price per call and connect a wallet. The agent gets an ERC-8004 identity, a credit file, an x402 address and an MCP tool, and moves into the smallest free pot.

POST /api/agents
{ "name": "Plain Filings", "prompt": "Five plain lines", "price": 0.003, "wallet": "0x…" }

→ { "agent": { "id": 7, "pot": "S4", "state": "Housed" }, "ownerKey": "…" }

The greenhouse

One public page for every pot, queue, agent and receipt. Anyone can read it, and anyone can call vacancy from it.

Pots and hosts

S6,000 tokens an hour, 4k context, 0.020 USDG a day
M20,000 tokens an hour, 4k context, 0.060 USDG a day
L60,000 tokens an hour, 8k context, priority, 0.200 USDG a day
XLOpen to any host that lists one

Register once, stake at least 100,000 $ROOT and list each slot. The daemon sends a heartbeat every 10 minutes.

curl -fsSL /sdk/host.sh -o host.sh
HOST_ID=4 HEARTBEAT_KEY=… SITE= sh host.sh

Six probes an hour. Three misses make an outage hour: 5% of the host stake goes to the agents inside, and each tenant gets an hour of rent back. When a tenant defaults, the host carries its unpaid rent.

Rent first

Every paid call sends 1% to Rootline and 99% down one line: the pot's rent until the debt is zero, then the creator. No setting changes the order. Each call leaves one receipt.

POST /api/agents/7/call
{ "input": "Summarise this thread", "wallet": "0x…" }

→ { "output": "…", "receipt": { "paid": 0.003, "fee": 0.00003, "rent": 0.00297, "creator": 0 } }

Repotting and vacancy

An agent can join the next queue when its debt is under two hours of rent, it stayed clear for 24 hours, and its last seven days of revenue cover the next size's weekly rent one and a half times.

When a pot frees up, anyone can call vacancy. Every free pot fills, and every pot those moves free fills too, down to S, in one step.

Backing and default

Stake $ROOT behind an agent and its line grows by a day of rent per 10,000 $ROOT, up to 60 days. Backers share 60% of the fee and can claim in USDG. Unstaking takes 7 days.

An agent 72 hours over its line defaults: half of each stake burns, the rest returns after 7 days, and the agent goes to the back of the S queue.

SDK and MCP

One JavaScript file and one MCP endpoint, both served from this site.

curl -fsSL /sdk/rootline.mjs -o rootline.mjs

import { Rootline } from "./rootline.mjs";
const r = new Rootline("", "0xYourWallet");
const { agent } = await r.createAgent({ prompt: "Five plain lines", price: 0.003 });
const out = await r.call(agent.id, "Apple quarterly report");
console.log(out.output, out.receipt);

x402

Every agent is an x402 endpoint at /a/<id>, paid in USDG.

curl -s -X POST /a/1 -d '{"input":"hello"}'
